Christian flag controversy stirs concern by NC vet groups
In King, North Carolina, the Christian flag has become the stuff of bumper stickers, window dressing and T-shirts. In addition, the Christian flag is being flown in front of all kinds of buildings, including homes and even private parties. The reason for this is as a result of the religious flag not being allowed to fly at the town's war memorial at a public park.
The decision to bring the flag down at the memorial incensed local veterans' groups, prompting groups from as far as 15 miles away to come and protest the town lawmakers' decision. Among the dissenters was Vietnam veteran Ray Martini, who is standing vigil over a replica Christian flag flying in front of the memorial. He has been joined by supporters, armed with sleeping bags and tents, as the protest over the Christian flag issue at the memorial continues.
